Welcome, brave adventurers, to The Quest! Prepare for a fantastical journey where trails meet riddles, dice decide your fate, and bosses await your challenge. Whether you’re embarking on The Knight’s Longmarch or The Dungeon Dash, your adventure will be full of wonder, challenges, and laughs. Here’s everything you need to know to conquer The Quest!
SPELLBOOK GUIDE
The Quest! is a one-of-a-kind adventure run where you choose your own path, battle hidden bosses, complete side quests, and roll the dice to shape your fate. With 6-mile and 16-mile options, no set route, and unique character classes, every runner’s journey is different. Face the final dragon, earn time bonuses, and claim your victory! Every participant gets a custom D20 die, The Quest! shirt, and free drink to mark their adventure.
Choose Your Class - After registering, you will virtually roll for your class. Your roll will be saved and assigned to your registration, determining your unique ability for the quest.
Quest Gear - Each runner will receive a D20 die and physical and/or digital map to help track down the hidden bosses. Dressing up for the run will score you extra swag and a time reduction at the end.
Side Quests - Optional challenges will be available along your journey. Some side quests require use of your phone, solving riddles, carrying items, finding lost items, or locating missing Goblins! Each completed Side Quest earns you a time reduction bonus off your final time.
Hunt for Bosses - Bosses are hidden volunteers throughout Auburn. You don’t need to know Auburn to locate bosses, but it will help you to navigate the shortest route possible. Your phone and map will be key! When you find one, scan the QR code to check in. You and the boss will roll against each other—your roll can earn you a time reduction.
Face the Final Boss - Every runner will face the dragon at the end. The result of your roll will determine whether you receive a time reduction or penalty. After all this is still a race!
Epic Rewards - Each runner will receive a free custom D20, post run drink, and The Quest! shirt—wear it with pride, hero!

Check-in: 10:30 AM at Auburn Alehouse Annex, Auburn, CA.
Start Time: 11:00 AM sharp for all distances.
Finish Time: All adventurers must return to Auburn Alehouse by 4:30 PM.

Cost: $40 (includes entry, post-run beer, and a t-shirt).

Required personal gear:
Camera Phone: Required for taking checking in at bosses and Side Quests.
Backpack / Pack: Recommended for holding onto your Side Quest items.
Water Bottle: Recommended for basic health.
You’ll receive:
D20 Dice (Pre-Run): used for battling bosses.
Crude Map (Pre-Run): used for mapping your path.
Runners Bib (Pre-Run): used for identifying your class and adventure.
The Quest! T-Shirt (Pre/Post Run): used for pride and looking great.
Beer / Cider (Post Run): used for added health.

Before setting out, you must virtually roll for your class by clicking here. The roll will be saved and assigned to your registration. You may only roll once and the first roll will be recorded. Class details can be found here:
Roll 1-2: Frog Knight
Strong Against: Ghosts, Dragons
Skill: Mighty Bounce - Once per race, roll twice and keep the better result.
Roll 3-6: Warrior
Strong Against: Wizards, Fairies
Skill: Mighty Strike - Once per race, add +7 to your roll.
Roll 7-12: Rogue
Strong Against: Wizards, Trolls
Skill: Cunning Trick - Once per race, get +2 to your roll and force a boss to reroll.
Roll 13-18: Cleric
Strong Against: Trolls, Fairies
Skill: Divine Protection - Once per race, skip your roll and receive a 13 as your roll.
Roll 19-20: Knight
Strong Against: Wizards, Trolls, Dragons
Skill: Kingsguard - At each boss, you may re-roll once.

Optional challenges will be available along your journey. Each completed Side Quest earns you a sizeable time reduction off your final time. Many of these side quests can be completed individually but are easier in a group. Some side quests require use of your phone, solving riddles, carrying items, finding lost items, or locating missing Goblins!

Bosses are hidden along each path. You must find each boss in the allotted time, check in, and battle the them. For each win, you’ll be given a time reduction. For each loss you’ll have time added to your overall time. Ties grant no change in your time. How it works:
Using your map, locate a hidden boss before they disappear. You may do this as a group!
Each runner checks in using the QR code.
Wait to be called upon by the boss for the battle. You may active your skill during the battle (for most of you, it’s only once per race).
Your bib will be marked with a win or a loss, then calculated at the end.

Back at the Auburn Alehouse Annex, you’ll face the mighty Dragon! Turn in your collected rewards, roll your dice, and hope your bravery and cunning are enough to claim victory!

The Knight’s Longmarch
A grueling adventure for seasoned adventurers seeking glory. Navigate the lands, battle fierce bosses, and uncover hidden secrets.
The route will remain a secret till event day. 16 miles minimum with upwards of 1500ft of elevation gain.
The Dungeon Dash
A beginner-friendly quest for those looking to dip their toes into adventure. Perfect for first-time heroes or anyone craving a whimsical journey.
The route will remain a secret till event day. 6 miles minimum with upwards of 500ft elevation gain.
